Things to note before purchasing the Sigma S7 EtherNet/IPTM Function Blocks,

 

  • What is the Production S7 PLC CPU type (S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200 or S7-1500)

  • What is the Production S7 PLC CPU Firmware Version

  • What is the Production PLC Ethernet connectivity (Ethernet integrated in CPU or Communications Processor module)

  • What is the Production S7 PLC Ethernet Module Firmware Version

All these points determine what driver needs to be used due to the varying methodologies employed to communicate and the CPU dependent system functions which are utilised.
 

Please note: 

 

  • S7-300 PLC’s:    The Sigma Function Block driver requires at least a S7 CPU Firmware Version V3.2 or higher

  • S7-400 PLC’s:    The Sigma Function Block driver requires at least a S7 CPU Firmware Version V6.0 or higher

  • S7-1200 PLC’s: The Sigma Function Block driver requires at least a S7 CPU Firmware Version V4.0 or higher

Sigma offers the following drivers,  

  • S7300-EIP-CP     S7 315/317/319 CPU’s Firmware Version > V3.2 and a 6GK7343-1EX21-0XE0 or 6GK7343-1EX30-0XE0 or                              6GK7343-1CX10-0XE0 Communications Processor
     

  • S7300-EIP-CPU  S7 315/317/319 CPU’s Firmware Version > V3.2 with integrated Ethernet 
     

  • S7400-EIP-CP     S7 412/413/414/416/417 CPU’s Firmware Version > V6.0 and a 6GK7443-1EX20-0XE0 or
                                 6GK7443-1EX30-0XE0 Communications Processor

     

  • S7400-EIP-CPU  S7 412/413/414/416/417 CPU’s Firmware Version > V6.0 with integrated Ethernet 
     

  • S71200-EIP-CPU/CP  S7 1200 CPU with integrated Ethernet port or supported CP
     

  • S71500-EIP-CPU/CP  S7 1500 CPU with integrated Ethernet or supported CP

A Communications Processor supporting all TCP features is required. Refer to Siemens Industry Support website where      S7  TCP communication capability information exists.

Siemens Automation Software Requirements
 

Depending on the use of STEP7 Classic, PCS7 or TIA Portal, one the following minimum requirements should exist on your PLC software development computer.

 

  • STEP7 V5.5 or greater

  • PCS7 V8.0 SP1 or greater

  • TIA Portal V15 or greater

The Sigma S7 EtherNet/IPTM functions are licensed for use in a single compatible Siemens S7 CPU and the license is not transferable to another CPU.

Personnel who develop PLC software programs for Siemens Simatic S7 PLC’s communicating with Rockwell ControlLogix automation PLC’s via EtherNet/IPTM must be suitably qualified and must only use the supplied software functions for their intended use and supervise the health of the EtherNet/IPTM communication link to ensure that human and machine safety are adhered to at all times. Qualified personnel must determine for themselves the suitability of this software for the intended use.

To download the software, download the desired product download which includes the associated S7 EtherNet/IPTM Function Block Library, Software Manual and Example projects for the nominated S7 system.


Once you are satisfied with the software, the Sigma Online Store allows the purchase of the selected S7 EtherNet/IPTM driver license. Following the processing of the payment you will receive an email with a Tax Invoice. Final licensing shall be via email request with the Production S7 PLC’s SID code generated from the S7 EtherNet/IPTM Co-ordinator Function Block and the Sigma Tax Invoice number from your online purchase. Sigma shall then provide the License Code via return email.
